Humanism, by which I mean the will to give people love and care, is the most joyful and meaningful part of being human. From the old days to technologically advanced world, humanism is always telling ordinary but moving stories.
Let me tell you what touched my heart this winter break, one morning when I visited my grandmother in the hospital. Walking down the cold, tiled corridor, I noticed an old man, with his granddaughter C maybe 10 years old C sitting by his side. I was lured there by her voice C light and playful C and after Id seen them together, I could barely take my eyes away. Delicately draped over this old mans beeping cardiograph was a silk sheet with an ancient, cheerful Chinese poem beautifully written on it C and now, this little girls entrancing voice lovingly brought these words to life. I stood there transfixed; no longer did I see the family members swimming in nervousness; no longer did I feel the hospitals tense cloud of anxiety; no longer did I hear mortalitys soft whispers in the corridors; instead, I saw a startling marriage of juxtaposing images and emotions. I was beholding, I realized, a bewilderingly simple yet overwhelmingly powerful metaphor C one that shows that no matter how cold an environment technology can conjure, humanity is always there. In the forefront or the fringes, it is always there.
For here it was, illustrated vividly before me C the coldness of technology embodied in the hospital walls, while the soulful words of the little girl danced around them in defiance.
This experience opened my eyes in many ways C ever since, I have been acutely aware of, and wonderfully conscious of, the warm heart of humanity surrounding us, whether we choose to recognise it or not. As one psychological theory states, "We see what we want to see". After my experience that day at the hospital, I have chosen to recognize, day by day, the warmth of humanism everywhere I can.
I refuse to accept the negative, narrow-minded, caustic opinions that technology is eroding our souls. I say to them, let the machines continue their monotonous cacophony, for just one smiling face is infinitely more valuable than a thousand churners of binary code; let technological progress develop and develop until it poetically devours itself, because one heartfelt "hello" to a fellow traveller can speak libraries of warmth; let the powermongers and oil barons puff their last cigars, because the love and care, and warmth of humanism will always shine like beacon, reaching out to each and every heart on this small planet.
Although Ill probably never see that little girl or her grandfather again, Ill never forget seeing them there in the hospital that day C and if I did, Id thank them for showing me how vivid yet subtle, how firm yet fragile, and how invisible yet omnipresent the human spirit is in our world today. Thank you.

Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.
We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of the field as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that the nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But in a larger sense we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground.
The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here.
It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. 在科技飞跃进展的当今社会,车流量相当的多。可能只是一时疏忽,就将酿成大祸。记得四年级的时候,我们班的肖蕾就在十字路口上被一辆飞驰而过的面包车撞上。当时,我虽然没能目睹。但通过同学们的描述,这事有多可怕,她和几个同学一起走来上学的途中,肖蕾冲在最前头,在红灯的时候冲向人行道后来,这时就发生了那惨烈的一幕。肖蕾因为车祸将近半年没来上学。不幸中的万幸是肖蕾只是骨折。但她也因此耽误了学业。肖蕾的是告诉我们一定不能闯红灯! 同样是闯红灯,这位同学就没那么幸运了。放学时,一位孩子,和另外一个伙伴打闹中不慎闯了红灯,其中一位被开来的大货车撞倒在地,司机没有发现,从那个小孩的身上活生生地压过去。导致儿童当场毙命。
一幕幕悲惨的事件发生,一碗的数据触目惊心。我不由感叹:交通事故是那么可怕,一刹那间,就夺走了人的生命.现在路上的车辆越来越多,马路越来越拥挤,同时交通事故也越来越多,每年,有多少的生命被夺走,有多少个家庭被破坏,有多少人要失去亲人了.如果我们每个人心中都有交通规则,每个人都能自觉遵守交通规则……

我演讲的题目是?珍惜自己?。
一个生长在孤儿院的小男孩,悲观地问院长,像我这样没人要的孩子,活着究竟有什么意思?院长笑而不答,却交给孩子一块石头,让他拿到市场上去卖,但不是‘真卖’,无论别人出多少钱,绝对不能卖。第二天,孩子惊奇地发现,不少人对他的石头感兴趣,而且价钱越出越高。第三天,在黄金市场上,石头的价钱高了10倍。最后,当石头被拿到宝石市场上时,石头的身价又涨了10倍,更由于小男孩怎么都不卖,竟被传扬为?稀世珍宝?。
一块不起眼的石头,由于特殊的珍惜而提升了它的价值,竟被视为?稀世珍宝?。有时候,我们也就是这块石头。
也许,在我们中间,也许你的父母长年在外,没有时间照顾自己;也许你是家徒四壁,无所依靠,孤苦伶仃;也许你也曾经因为自己是一个农村来的孩子而感到自卑和不安……但是,这一切都不重要,重要的是你是否能做到珍惜自己,能否树立百倍的信心,付出千倍的努力来改变这一切。不论个人的情况如何,你都应当庆幸:你是独一无二的存在,这世上再没有任何人会跟你一模一样了!你有自己的同学,有自己的老师,还有自己的朋友,许多人在关心着你,注视着你,爱护着你,珍惜自己,他们都是你前进的力量。是的,生活当中,也许我们每个人就是一块石头,但只要看重自己,学会珍惜自己,生命就有了意义、有了价值。 珍惜自己,这世上只有一个自己;珍惜自己,你将在珍惜中体会到快乐。学会珍惜,你会发现,生活中有很多美好的东西真是让人留恋。

大家好!
有这样一个故事:很久以前,有个小和尚,想学会理发来帮寺庙的和尚剃发。于是他就开始用冬瓜练习,只是每次打水洗冬瓜时总要顺手把剃刀插到冬瓜上。没多久就学会了如何剃发,当他第一次帮人剃发,去打水洗头时,“顺手”把剃刀插了上去。结果可想而知,小和尚成了杀人犯。
究竟是什么给小和尚的一片好心带来害人害已的结果呢?答案很简单。就是因为他用冬瓜作练习时养成了把剃刀插向冬瓜的习惯,尽管为自我的师兄剃发时心里想着这是人不是冬瓜,但手却不听使唤,习惯性地把刀插了上去,所以,是那个小小的坏习惯害了他。
虽然这个故事有几分夸张,我们也不可能会是一个为别人理发的小和尚。可是同学们,你们有没有类似的坏习惯呢?比如:随地吐痰、随意骂人、说脏话、随手乱扔乱撂、经常大声喧哗、在楼道里追逐打闹、自习课上说话等,如果有,它们迟早会给你带来或大或小的麻烦。这个故事再一次告诫我们:坏的习惯一旦养成,即使是很小的,也不容易改掉,最终会给自我和他人带来危害。
所以,我们平时要养成一些好的习惯,良好的习惯能够使我们在各个方面受益匪浅:平时不浪费一分一秒,努力学习就会使成绩上升;尽自我的一份力维持班级的卫生,就很有可能使班团体成为“卫生模范班”,如果每个同学都这样,学校也会变得干净漂亮,我们在其中学习、生活也会心境舒畅;平时坚持锻炼身体,就可能在运动会上一展风采;帮同学讲解问题,也许会使自我有新的发现;在家中帮父母做一些力所能及的家务,自我能做的事自我做,不给父母增添不必要的麻烦……
同学们,良好的习惯是成功的一半,养成良好的习惯,从此刻,从自我开始吧!
