这是活龙潭，其形如坛，深不可测。潭的四周为绝壁，峭不可攀，游人需从潭上天桥经过。一侧石壁凹进，有石钟乳悬挂。溪水从潭的侧面注入，形成潭瀑，轰鸣作响。活龙潭之水从一石谷溢出，石谷窄而曲，两人相跟，后者不见前者。谷上空却有瀑布跌落，游人需从瀑下经过。此瀑布在多雨季节，如帘似幕，轰然有声;若是干旱季节，便如链似线，有“大珠小珠落玉盘”的悠扬。正午至此，可见无数条彩虹汇集于此，人动虹动，如神龙复活。此潭相传为断龙山出逃白龙的主要居所，至今当地山民还保留着向潭中倒鸡屎求雨的风俗。
这是双虹潭，两潭紧连。此潭水色黝碧，上游溪水跌落形成瀑布。潭的右边石壁上十余米以下无植物生长，岩石一层层地分布，每层有横纹加浪;再往上便植被茂密。有水从半壁的一棵大树根下流出，形成瀑布，落入潭中，溅起了圈圈的涟漪。阳光直射时，涟漪起处有彩虹悬挂，一上一下，一大一小，相得益彰。
请看这里，四周绝壁直立，数十米高的崖壁上植被遮天蔽日，如空中华盖。自树根、草丛、岩缝涓涓而出的泉水，挂出一串串水帘，集成了多处飞瀑，形如玉珠飞舞，声似龙吟凤鸣。
这是黑槽，实为一窄岩沟，深80余米，长20余米，宽仅0.3米左右。此处为整个峡谷内最难通行之处。若在沟内行走，只能弯腰侧身，难辨晨昏。谷底溪水潺潺，由于天呈一线，每天正午仅有20分钟可见阳光射入，那时粼粼波光倒映石壁，石壁间便有灵光闪动，形成许多奇特的图案。槽中一巨石不知从何处跌落，卡在石壁之间，溪水流过叮咚有声。
请看这半山腰石壁上有一天然石窟。石窟呈现半圆形，壁上有钟乳石倒悬，仅可容三人弯腰而立。神奇之处在于石窟中间有一小型石钟乳生长，酷似佛祖打坐，常有游客攀爬上去拜求平安，据称十分灵验。
玉龙戏瀑，溪水从上游而下，突遇陡坎，分四级层层跌落，形成一挂高20余米的瀑布落入潭中，潭中水色碧澄，有枯木乱插其中，两边石壁上有藤条垂挂。此处空间较大，游人可于潭边休息。阳光射入潭中时，粼粼波光便会反射到游人身上，频频闪动，颇为奇妙。
此段行程平缓，在百米距离内散落着数个小潭。其形态各异、深浅有别，皆如柳宗元笔下那些雅致的小潭，别有韵味。小溪似瀑随山势一路蜿蜒，将小潭逐个串联，潺潺作响，如轻歌曼舞。受山泉滋润，两岸植被茂密，苍翠欲滴，充满了无限的生机。
