说到平江路，在苏州当地老百姓心目中的地位那可是相当的重要的啊。一位在平江路上生活了七十多年的老阿姨告诉我，早在宋、元时期，这苏州府原本叫做平江府。而我国现存最早的城市平面图DD《平江图》，就是800多年前苏州古城的城市地图。所以啊，在地道的苏州人心目中，平江路才是老大，这苏州城啊只能算得上是老二。
走在平江路上，踏着一块块被苏州古老历史细细打磨的青石板，真不清楚这老街上的一砖一瓦到底留下了多少故事传奇，我真是迫不及待地想知道啦。
最先来到的就是连接临顿路和平江路的悬桥巷。悬桥巷本是条极为普通的小巷子，却因为与明朝万历年间的大宦官魏忠贤扯上了关系而被人们熟知。根据《吴县志》的记载，悬桥巷本名叫做迎春巷、员桥巷。后来，魏忠贤在巷内建了真馆，出于安全考虑修了座悬桥，小巷也就跟着更名为悬桥巷了。别看这悬桥巷只是短短的一段，这巷子里的建筑几乎都是以明清时期为主的。更值得称道的是，除了魏忠贤之外，悬桥巷的历史还与住在这里的另外几个名人紧紧联系在了一起，先让我故弄一下玄虚，答案马上揭晓。
悬桥巷21号、23号、25号就是一代名医钱伯煊故居，25号门口悬挂的镏金招牌上赫然写着“钱宅”两个字。
