随着故事的展开，小王子对经历的描述和对所见所闻的看法，不由对小王子天真却又敏锐的看法感到钦佩。对权力极度迷恋的国王，小王子觉得“这些大人真奇怪”；对爱慕虚荣的人，还是“这些大人，肯定是十分古怪的”；对为了忘记酗酒的羞愧而酗酒的酒鬼，依然认为“这些大人确实真叫怪”；对迷恋于财富的实业家，他觉得“这些大人们真是奇怪极了”；对光说不做的地理学家，小王子依旧觉得难以理喻……小王子对所见所闻不解的，其实正是我们大人们内心最庸俗最愚妄最盲目最空虚最孤独的部分，为了追逐权力、金钱、虚荣、事业而失去了生活中真正值得我们去珍惜去享受的情感和乐趣。
整个故事最动人的是小王子和狐狸交往的那一段。在和狐狸的交往中，小王子也真正感悟到了爱的真谛。当他面对满园的玫瑰花，他感到自己非常不幸。“他的那朵花曾对他说她是整个宇宙中独一无二的一种花。可是，仅在这一座花园里就有五千朵完全一样的这种花朵！于是，他躺在草丛中哭泣起来。”
