下午5点58分，国际奥委会主席巴赫在国际奥委会第128次会议上揭晓，北京获得2022年冬奥会举办权。在会议所在城市马来西亚吉隆坡，全国人民见证了这一激动人心的时刻。这意味着北京再次创造了一个历史，成为世界上第一个既举办过夏季奥运会，又举办冬季奥运会的城市。
中国体育再次迎来了新的篇章，中国成为世界上第一个举办过夏季奥运会、冬季奥运会、残奥会以及青年奥运会的国家，称为“奥运全满贯举办”。 这些历史性的'时刻分别是：2008年北京主办夏季奥运会，2022年北京主办冬季奥运会，2008年和2022北京主办夏季和冬季残奥会，2014年南京主办青年奥运会。中国能够成功的申办冬奥会，对于整个国家来说，这样的成功都是值得骄傲的。 奥运会作为一个全球性的集体竞技性活动，本身就受到全世界的高度关注，这样可以让世界再一次认识北京和中国。而且这也是中国上下13亿人民共同努力的一种成果，是中国进步最大的证据。北京联合张家口主办2022年冬奥会，还是继2008年北京奥运会和2010年上海世博会后，中国申办的又一个顶级的国际盛会，与实现中华民族伟大复兴的中国梦紧密相连、息息相关。
