Hi, everybody. This Sunday is Father’s Day, and so I wanted to take a moment to talk about the most important job many of us will ever have and that’s being a dad.

Today we’re blessed to live in a world where technology allows us to connect instantly with just about anyone on the planet. But no matter how advanced we get, there will never be a substitute for the love and support and, most importantly, the presence of a parent in a child’s life. I’ll be thinking about Sasha’s dance recitals and Malia’s tennis matches Cabout the conversations we’ve had and the quiet moments we’ve shared. I’ll be thinking about whether I did right by them, and whether they knew, every day, just how much they were loved.

为了适应大环境，本学期的英语教材更换了，大家都知道换成了牛津小学英语，我们五年级用的是5a，这套教材应该是三年级开始从3a逐步学起的，由于种种原因，当时我们学的是新标准英语，那也就是说我们过去3a到4b的四册内容都没学过，而一下子要孩子接触5a，而且拒有关专家讲，从4b到5a的跨度非常大，是所有牛津小学英语中册与册之间跨度最大的，书中绝大多数都是长句子，语法知识也很多，而且以前的教材对于写的要求也不高，考查的力度也不大，鉴于以上这些情况，因此本次期中考试的成绩整体都不理想，值得高兴的是我们班的浦睿同学考了全年级英语最高分97分。孩子们第一次接触这样的教材，这样的题型，这次试卷又有些偏，因为我们以前的教材只有我们学校用，所以试卷都是老师自己出，而且也没有范围，因此，看起来普遍成绩都很好。其实这次考试不太理想也许是件好事，一方面可以对孩子有点触动，另一方面也可以使我们了解到新教材与就教材之间的差异，而更好地为以后的教学服务。这次的考试包括以后的月考，期中期末考都不再是老师自己出卷了，而且题型不是一成不变的，英语这门学科和语数不一样的地方在于它的灵活多变性，它的题型可以千变万化，但它的变化总是建立在一个不变的基础上的，那就是这些基础知识：单词，短语，句型。一旦基础的东西掌握了，不管它怎么变，万变不离其宗。
