我们是奥班的学生，“没有最好，只有更好”是我们的口号，“更高、更快、更强”是我们的宗旨。在教室里，可以轻易地看见同学们埋头苦干的身影，也能听见为一个问题争论不休的声音……但是，“没有最好，只有更好”，在知识的海洋里，我们永不满足。在这里，不得不提一下偏科的问题。当然，有这个问题的同学应该只是小部分，但这个问题较其他班更容易在奥班发生。众所周知，这是一个不好的现象，但个别同学因为其他科目在小学没打好扎实的基础，学起来并不那么得心应手。于是，他们把全部心思都放在了数学这一科身上，力争在这一领域创出自己的一片天地，因而放弃了其他的科目。在这里，我想介绍一个故事给大家，内容绝对真实，可能有部分同学会看过，因为，它就刊登在8月27号的广州日报上。讲述的是一个高中生，高二下学期考试全班排名29(并非失手)，而经过一年的奋斗，在高三最后一次模拟考试与高考当中，都夺得了全班第一名。化学他一直学得不好，但下定决心努力后，仅两个月的时间他就取得了全年级第一，事实突破了他的想象空间，他的梦想开始远大。他说，心理学上有一个名词，叫“自我实现的预言”，意思是，如果相信自己行，你最后就能行;如果怀疑自己不行，你就会退步。他还说，“要相信你的最好成绩，因为那是你抵达过的境界，如果你相信它，那么你一定会重新抵达那里”，还有“不必在意某一次偶然的失败，因为如果你在乎这次失常，就是相信了它，它将会成为你消极的预言，让你重演。”
还要说一个问题，就是特色班的评选。我们的特色是：活泼自律，但由于我们做的还不够，所以一直没有申报。活泼我们是做到了，似乎还过分了些，但自律呢?纪律一直是我们的老问题，总是死灰复燃。其实，我也不想再次提起，因为我知道，大家已经听烦了，听腻了，并且都知道应该怎么做，但就是做不到。同学们有没有想过，课堂上你无心发出的一句与课堂无关的话，自习课上你不自然发出的一声笑声，影响的可不止你自己，还有全班的同学。如果因为你一个人的过错而波及到了全班，你不觉得内疚吗?大道理我不多说，大家心里都明白应该怎么做，但为什么做不到呢，只因为一时的贪玩、一时的失控吗?我希望，这个学期，我们可以申报特色班。不管是否评得上，只要我们递交材料时能够做到问心无愧，就已经是我们的进步了。

高考既不是为了父母，更不是为了老师，它只是为了自己。读大学并非唯一的出路，也不会是在座所有人的出路，但它是一条稳定而又安全的出路。我为啥说高考是一条稳定而又安全的出路?我给大家讲个真实的故事：我有个表弟，在15中读高一，由于忍受不了读书的辛苦，自认为不用高考一样打工挣钱，今年5月份不顾家长极力反对，自己死活不读书，要去打工挣钱，舅舅在百般无赖的情况下给他办了退学手续，然后，他去了东风一家面包店打工，干了4个小时，双手都磨出了泡，自己主动辞退了工作，回家后，生怕家人嘲笑和责骂，又去炳草岗德克士打工，当初离开学校时的豪言壮志荡然无存，勉强干了两个星期后，主动要求舅舅重返学校，再读高一。从表弟这个故事我得到一个结论：读书不一定都找到理想工作，但不读书肯定找不到一个理想工作。
我现在学习成绩不算优秀，高考留给我的时间不到一年了，来得及吗?相信大家都听过一个故事，一个母亲在楼下看到自己刚满周岁的女儿爬上阳台，即将坠落，她以超越奥运冠军的速度跑过去接住了她，这个故事告诉我们人的潜能是无限的。我现在最缺的就是坚定的信念，正确认识学习规律，这份信念就是相信自己，相信自己的潜能。所以我请大家现在就去相信，相信自己一定会考上，想象考上以后，你的爸爸会有多么高兴，你的妈妈会有多么高兴，你自己又有多么高兴。

They are basically aliens right here on Earth. They live in an environment of chemosynthesis. They don&39;t survive on sunlight based system the way we do. And so, you&39;re seeing animals that are living next to a 500 degree Centigrade water plumes. You think they can&39;t possibly exist.
At the same time I was getting very interested in space science as well, again, you know the science fiction influence, as a kid. And I wound up getting involved with the space community, really involved with NASA, sitting on the NASA advisory board, planning actual space missions, going to Russia, going to the pre-cosmonaut biomedical protocols, and all these sorts of things, to actually go and fly to the international space station with our 3D camera systems. And this was fascinating. But what I wound up doing was bringing space scientists with us into the deep and taking them down so that they had access to astrobiologists, planetary scientists, people who were interested in these extreme environments, taking them down to the vents, and letting them see, and take samples and test instruments, and so on.
So, here we were making documentary films, but actually doing science, and actually doing space science. I can completely close the loop between being the science fiction fan, you know, as a kid, and doing this stuff for real.
